For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by the relationship between individuals and their family, social, cultural, physical, work, and political environments. So much good comes from having conversations with people that align them with their best hopes and what they want more of in their lives.
I’ve been seeing therapy clients since since 2001, when I worked as a counselor at Progress Foundation, a community based residential treatment and supportive housing program in San Francisco, California; then at the John F. Kennedy University Counseling Center. While in graduate school, a colleague and I launched a counseling program for children and families affected by domestic violence. After graduating with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, California in 2003, I interned at The Family Institute of Pinole (California), where I provided counseling to victims of crime, families undergoing stress or affected by domestic and other forms of violence, in an innovative training program for family therapists.
In New York, I trained at The Ackerman Institute for the Family, worked as a clinician-researcher in two different family therapy treatment programs: one a drug treatment center in the Bronx, and one at New York University, before I started my private practice in Manhattan.
I am Licensed to practice Marriage and Family Therapy in the states of New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
I am also an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist, which means that I have obtained additional training and am credentialed to work with the psychological and emotional components of sexual issues.
Before becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist, I worked in graphic design, art direction, publishing, adult education, organizational psychology and corporate training. I’ve designed presented workshops on creativity and change, community building, disability rights, and trained other trainers. I designed and introduced new graphic design curiculla for UC Berkeley and Santa Cruz Extensions to help students develop critical thinking skills. I’ve facilitated meetings for organizations such as The Support Center for Nonprofit Management, Media Alliance, The San Francisco Chronicle Newspaper, Oakland: Sharing the Vision, and Brooklyn Cohousing. I’ve taught at Mercy College, the University of California Berkeley and Santa Cruz extensions, Academy of Art College, and Marin College.
Having had other careers, lived in many places and having a wide variety of real life experience keeps me grounded in reality (not just theory) when people need understanding and solutions that work.

I absolutely love Gracie Landes and she has been my therapist for 7yrs. Hands down the best therapist I have ever had.
I've only seen her twice so far but my impression is very favorable. I've seen 4-5 therapists and she has been the best. She is very attentive and in tune with what is being said. She is also very focussed on solutions - not just explaining to you what your condition is.
I highly recommend Gracie Landes - she is worth her weight in gold
I have seen her for a year and a half and couldn't imagine seeing anyone else. She always remembers things from a long time again and offers solutions. Always punctual and flexible with my schedule.
Very comfortable & knowledgeable. Gives solution-based advise. Suggests supplemental reading materials and exercises/"homework" for between sessions.
Gracie Landes helped us a lot, she is awesome. We had other issues, but she does specialize in intimacy issues. She is practical, doesn't take sides, and really helps you to problem solve things. She would be perfect.
I've gone to Gracie Landes, who's a sex therapist, although I went for something different, so I can vouch she's been a great therapist for me.
My husband and I saw Gracie for about a year and a half. She saw us through separation to the birth of our child. Gracie is an excellent therapist and maintains neutrality while challenging couples to see their issues from the perspective of the other."
